The Regulatory Compliance Specialist will assist in monitoring all property/casualty insurance legislation and regulations impacting AAIS products and operations. You will assist in maintaining awareness of current events and topics at the state level and maintain relations and liaise with industry trade associations and other relevant organizations and stakeholders. You may also have contact with state regulatory officials assisting in setting up pre-filing meetings and meetings to discuss AAIS initiatives.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, interpret, and track pending legislation, utilizing compliance tools such as LexisNexis State Net, that may impact AAIS products, under attorney guidance.
  • Review and provide analysis of state insurance department bulletins and circulars, trade bulletins, and other related material to determine applicability.
  • Audit all regulations and other data reporting requirements annually for updates and changes
  • Participate in, and report to stakeholders, various NAIC working group/steering committees teleconferences, ensuring that AAIS remains informed on the industry activity relevant to AAIS and AAIS members.
  • Assist in the coordination of activities such as conferences, NAIC/DOI meetings, webinars and publication articles/speaking opportunities as defined in the GLC communication initiative.
  • Assist in the development of compliance documentation and reference materials.
  • Communicate appropriate compliance-related information internally and externally and assist/coordinate on making sure compliance questions are addressed.
  • Engage in regulatory research relating to compliance issues presented.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.


Education/Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience in insurance or bachelor’s degree in Business Insurance or related field
  • Demonstrate strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Use both written and verbal communication skills in a clear, effective, manner
  • Plan and organize activities to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Products including Word and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of compliance tools such as LexisNexis, SERFF, APCIA
  • Ability to learn company-specific systems and procedures
