Purpose:
- This position is responsible for effective installation /configuration, operation and maintenance of system hardware and software related infrastructure.
- Provides desktop computing and printer support.
- Provide periodic reports of monitoring, asset status and expenses for all information technology.
Job Responsibilities:
- Act as the initial point of contact for all computer and system related concerns
- Act as hotline for other groups in Zendesk
- Laptop hardware and software setup
- New hire onboarding / deboarding
- Assist in imaging and asset management
- Manage trouble ticket lifecycles within Zendesk helpdesk system
- Take responsibility for resolution of tickets within skill level
- Manage workload and user expectations concurrently
- Support end users both in the office and from remote locations
- Create user and technical documentation as required
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Communicate results to manager
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Demonstrated commitment to Information Technology career path
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and Adobe (PDF)
- Experience with installation of software
- Ability to troubleshoot application plug-ins
- Password management support
- Effectively contributes in a collaborative, team-oriented work environment
- Presents a positive and professional image
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desktop Support Engineer Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or equivalent work experience
- Proven work experience as a desktop support engineer or support technician.
- Advanced knowledge of computer hardware systems, chipsets, memory modules, and peripherals.
- Knowledge of popular operating systems, software applications, and remote connection systems.
- Ability to solve complex hardware and software issues.
- Ability to travel and work after hours when necessary.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Learning Opportunities:
- Laptop support on Windows PCs and Apple Macintosh
- Troubleshooting on multiple devices including laptops, tablets, mobiles
- Supporting an environment with mix of Linux and Windows servers
- Application support on both Linux and Windows servers
