Florida Issues Emergency Order and Daily Data Call Related to Hurricane Ian
On September 28, 2022, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) issued an Emergency Order and a required daily data call related to Hurricane Ian.
The Emergency Order addresses insurers' extension of grace periods, limitations on cancellations and nonrenewals, and deemers and limitations on "use and file" filings, along with other miscellaneous provisions.
The OIR is also requiring insurers to provide daily simplified catastrophe claims reporting beginning Friday, September 30, 2022, through Friday, October 7, 2022. The data must be submitted daily by 12:00 p.m. ET, including Saturday and Sunday (October 1-2, 2022). The OIR will notify insurers if additional reporting deadlines are required.
At this time, insurers must report using the Simplified 2022 CRF, which does not include the “Survey” tab within the CRF template. The OIR stressed the importance of submitting timely and accurate data. Recent claims reporting notices and other resources are available here on the OIR website.
The following resources are available to aid in completing the CRF:
At a later date, the OIR may issue a notice requiring insurers to submit the Enhanced 2022 CRF, which will include the “Survey” tab within the CRF template.
