AAIS's principal role is to develop and maintain policy forms, manual rules, and loss cost rating information for property/casualty insurers to use as the basis for the coverage they sell to consumers, businesses, and other organizations.

Forms

AAIS policy forms offer an array of options that let insurers offer coverage to meet the unique needs of their customers. These technically sound forms are regularly reviewed and revised to ensure that they are current and competitive with those of market leaders.

Manuals

AAIS manuals provide sound rules for writing and rating policies, along with sound loss cost information.

Filing Authorization Service

AAIS files manuals and forms with every insurance department that licenses rating and advisory organizations. For no extra charge, companies can authorize AAIS to notify departments that they are using an AAIS program for a specific line of insurance. Even in jurisdictions that do not license advisory organizations, it is often possible for AAIS members to file and use AAIS products. For more, see Filings & Compliance.

Stat Reporting

AAIS provides low-cost statistical reporting service and stresses cooperation rather than fines to achieve timely, accurate reporting. Companies that report data to AAIS will have their own loss experience incorporated into AAIS loss costs. For more, see Actuarial & Statistical.
