AAIS continues its comprehensive update of
earthquake rating information with filings initiated or imminent in 11
more states in lines that provide building property coverage. Most of
the filings carry a proposed effective date of Dec. 1, 2007.
Upon approval of these filings, AAIS will have
updated its earthquake rating information in more than half the
jurisdictions in the country over the past 15 months.
The revised rating information was developed through
the use of an earthquake model designed to estimate loss costs due to
earth shaking and fire following an earthquake. The information consists
of loss costs for rating zones defined, where applicable, by ZIP Code;
many states consist of one zone.
The Inland Marine Guide section of
AAISdirect has been redesigned to make it easier to identify and
access material available in this resource of forms, rating procedures,
and other information for the traditionally nonfiled classes of inland
marine insurance.
After Guide affiliates click "Inland Marine
Guide" on the AAISdirect home page, they now are taken to a page
which provides neatly organized links to the Guide's general
information, filing information, rules, support materials, and general
sections, as well as its individual classes (Builders' Risk, Contractors
Equipment, Difference in Conditions, etc.).
When they click on each class, users are taken to a
screen listing links to the various components of the service for that
class (forms, underwriting, rating, etc.), along with a brief
description of each component. New sections within most of the classes
have been added for clarification of available material.
Other enhancements to Guide service on
AAISdirect include the addition of sample bridge endorsements with a
corresponding rule in the general information section, and the
availability of disclosure notices in Microsoft Word format.

AAIS invites property/casualty professionals to
submit their observations and concerns regarding emerging exposures
through our new AAISalert web page.
The AAISalert online submission form asks users to describe
new exposures they are concerned about, indicate how they address the
exposure or plan to address it, and how it is likely to affect AAIS
programs. One need not be a
member of AAIS to participate.
Ideas generated through AAISalert may be
incorporated into AAIS's program revisions, and may also become topics
for meetings and publications
