AAIS is initiating filing action to introduce
countrywide manuals for its Homeowners
and Mobile-Homeowners Programs.
Under this format, pages for identifying specific state exceptions will be
issued separately, a change from the previous
practice of issuing separate manuals for each jurisdiction.
The new manuals will display basic rating information
in a factor rating format rather than as tables with amounts already
calculated. The manuals will display loss cost base amounts by territory,
and provide the applicable relativities for policy form, amount of
insurance, protection, and construction.
Proposed effective dates for the new manuals range
from May 1 to Sept. 1, 2006. Companies affiliated with AAIS for Homeowners
or Mobile-Homeowners will receive more information in an upcoming
bulletin.

The September 2005 edition of the Policy Form and
Manual Analysis Service (PF&M), published by
The Rough
Notes Co., features a detailed analysis of the AAIS Artisans Program,
concentrating on the open perils form provided in the program.
The Artisans Program is designed for insuring small
building contractors (carpenters, plumbers, electricians, etc.) that may
have little or no building property of their own. A policy emphasizes
liability coverage, and can be written to provide liability coverage only.
