AAIS
is teaming up with the Inland Marine Underwriters Association
(IMUA) for a
joint Web seminar at 1 p.m. Central time, Wednesday, March 16, entitled
"Identifying and Insuring Web Site Exposures."
The focus will be on risks of first-party property
loss to hardware, software, and data, and related business income losses.
Among other things, the session will cover exposures to Web sites based at
insured locations or on off-site servers.
This seminar features two speakers:
-
William Yang, an independent Internet security
consultant who previously served as IT security policy officer
for the state of Ohio.
-
Robert Guevara, AAIS vice president for inland
marine, who will discuss policy forms and other information related to
Web sites in the AAIS Inland Marine Guide.
The program is intended for inland marine affiliates
of AAIS and members of the IMUA.

Restrictions on excluding liability coverage for
injury and damage arising from lead will take effect in Rhode Island on
July 1.
In 2003, AAIS filed forms, manual rules, and rating
information developed to comply with a 2003 Rhode Island law that
restricts the ability of insurers to exclude coverage for lead liability
arising from residential property. The materials were approved in
time for the law's original July 1, 2004 effective date, but that
date was pushed back one year by the Rhode Island legislature.
The materials will be available under the AAIS Commercial Liability, Dwelling Properties, Farmowners,
Homeowners, Mobile-Homeowners, and Personal & Premises Liability
programs. Corresponding materials for the AAIS Businessowners Program have
been filed for use with the recent comprehensive revision of that program.
For information on affiliating with AAIS for use of those
programs, contact Rick Maka, director of marketing, at rickm@AAISonline.com.
The New York State Insurance Department has issued regulations
on the use of credit information in underwriting and rating personal lines
insurance.
The regulations, which take effect April 23, include
limitations on the use of credit information, requirements for obtaining
such information, requirements for consumer disclosure, and requirements
for filing credit-based insurance scoring models.
Gray
Wolf Insurance Seminars has scheduled its next "AAIS Personal
Lines Underwriting Academy" for May 2-6 in Tinley Park, Ill.
(suburban Chicago). Registration
is open to all property/casualty professionals that want in-depth
training on using the forms and manuals in the AAIS Homeowners,
Farmowners, Dwelling Properties, Landlord's Package, Personal and
Premises Liability, Personal and Farm Umbrella, and Personal Inland
Marine programs.
The academy is led by Gray Wolf
senior instructor Fred Macy, who has taught property/casualty courses
since 1977 and AAIS-specific courses since 1996.
The Indiana Department of Insurance issued a bulletin
last week revising the language of a standardized notice to policyholders
informing them of how they can contact the department to resolve disputes
with insurers.
The new disclosure language is required for all
policies issued or renewed 180 days after the bulletin was released on
March 3.
