AAIS PREPARING MATERIALS TO COMPLY WITH
NEW FLORIDA HURRICANE DEDUCTIBLE  RULES

AAIS has initiated filing action on endorsements and rating information to comply with a Florida law that takes effect May 1.

The law, enacted in the wake of the four hurricanes that struck the state last year, requires residential property insurers to apply hurricane deductibles on a calendar year basis, rather than on an occurrence basis.

To date, AAIS has filed the necessary endorsement forms for its Homeowners and Mobile-Homeowners Programs, and is awaiting the department's position before filing endorsements for other programs that provide residential property coverage. Rules and rating information to accompany the forms are also being developed.
