WHEATON, Ill., Aug. 25, 2004--Several major U.S.
property/casualty insurers recently affiliated with the American
Association of Insurance Services (AAIS) for use of its Inland Marine
Guide, a resource of policy forms, rating procedures, underwriting
guidelines and other information for writing the nonfiled classes of
inland marine insurance.
The companies include:
-
Safeco Insurance Companies, Seattle, Wash.;
-
The inland marine division of Fireman's Fund
Insurance Group, based in New York City;
-
Coregis Ins. Co., a Chicago-based provider of
specialty insurance to public sector entities;
-
Commonwealth Ins. Co. and Commonwealth Ins. Co.
of America, two Seattle-based affiliates that specialize in large
commercial property risks; and
-
National Farmers Union Property & Casualty
Co., Aurora, Col., a western regional affiliate of OneBeacon Ins.
Co. that writes personal and commercial lines in rural communities.
AAIS is a national advisory organization and
statistical agent that develops policy forms and rating information used
by more than 600 property/casualty companies throughout the United
States.
"AAIS has been great in
assisting us with our start-up operations for non-filed inland
marine," says Richard Hansen, senior vice president of National
Farmers Union's specialty division. "[AAIS staff is] knowledgeable,
courteous, and quick to respond to all our inquiries."
The Inland Marine Guide has long been the
standard industry source for policy forms and other information for
nonfiled classes . Its
value was recently enhanced when many of its forms were filed in states
that do not exempt the Guide classes from filing requirements.
This initiative relieves AAIS member companies of a regulatory burden
and saves them thousands of dollars in filing fees.
