Compliance is a core service at AAIS and critically
important to our affiliated companies. In this position, you will obtain
required state insurance department approvals for filed rates/loss costs,
rules and forms. You will team with experts in the insurance industry and
become knowledgeable of personal and commercial lines of insurance.

Process initial submissions with state insurance
departments for new or revised AAIS programs.

Process objection responses with the appropriate
internal staff.

Follow-up regularly with state insurance departments
regarding status of pending filings to achieve approval.

Quote, process and bill custom filings.
-
Manage the entire process with internal staff,
company and state departments.

Draft and process appropriate bulletins, including
all their components.

Update and maintain sections of the AAIS
Compliance Guide as assigned.

College preferred, but not required.
-
Knowledge of insurance products and terminology
required.

Superior attention to detail and ability to manage
multiple details and projects simultaneously.

The commercial lines product development specialist position is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of AAIS commercial lines insurance products.
- Conduct research and analysis on competitor products, market needs, and emerging issues and make recommendations for changes or additions to AAIS commercial lines products.
- Develop policy language, rules, and other supporting materials for AAIS commercial lines products.
- Work closely with compliance staff, review regulatory issues and determine their impact on AAIS commercial lines products.
- Interact with various AAIS staff and users of AAIS products with respect to marketing and systems support.
- Communicate background information and explanatory material associated with AAIS product changes to affiliated companies, prospects, regulators, and others.
- Knowledge of industry-standard commercial lines programs of insurance, including knowledge of coverage concepts, policy language, rating procedures, and underwriting philosophies. Will consider candidates with strong knowledge of personal lines programs.
- Product development experience with strong analytical and technical writing skills.
- Excellent communication and other interpersonal skills.
- Superior attention to detail with proficiency in the use of Microsoft word.
- Bachelors degree, with insurance coursework a plus (ie. CPCU, J.D. or paralegal)
- Three to five years of insurance industry experience, including experience in writing policy language

The American Association of Insurance Services (AAIS),
an insurance advisory organization with over 50 years of service to the
insurance industry, is seeking an Associate Actuary.
We provide countrywide product and rating information
for twenty six property/casualty lines of insurance and take pride in our
service and responsiveness to the needs of 700 property/casualty insurance
companies.
As a statistical agent, AAIS collects large amounts of
industry loss experience totaling in billions of annual written premium for
major P&C insurance lines. To develop a comprehensive view of insurance
risk, AAIS licenses catastrophe modeling software and software for
multivariate analysis.
AAIS actuarial group consists of five highly motivated
employees with diverse background and strong focus on delivering quality
work products for our affiliated companies.
We are looking to fill a vacated position responsible for pricing commercial
lines of insurance.
A successful candidate must have in-depth knowledge and
hands on experience with the application of standard actuarial methods and
be willing to learn new techniques. Such an individual must have solid
understanding of key statistical concepts such as analysis of variance and
regression techniques.
In pricing various insurance coverages, an Associate
Actuary will be expected to perform hands on work with large volume of
industry loss experience data, use catastrophe modeling software to
calculate catastrophe loads, and apply generalized linear modeling
techniques to develop and refine rating plans.
- Pricing commercial lines of insurance including commercial property, commercial liability and BOP
- Research and development
- Preparation of actuarial documentation for commercial lines filings
- DOI communication and negotiation
- Project management
- Completion of five actuarial exams, ACAS designation preferred
- 5 years pricing experience in property/casualty commercial lines
- Possess well developed technical skills, SAS experience preferred
- Exhibit excellent written communication skills and experience with P&C filings
- Proven track record of creativity and problem solving skills
