Set against dramatic cliffs
overlooking the Pacific Ocean, these championship courses have drawn
avid golfers to this incomparable setting for more than 30 years.
The Old Course, designed by
Arnold Palmer, was opened in 1973.
This American classic weaves through parkland, finishing on
one of the highest ranked golf holes in the world. Joe DiMaggio was
often seen playing the Old with Pro Emeritus Moon Mullins, who's also
teed up alongside Willie Mays, Evel Knievel, Jackie Gleason, and Bob
Hope.
California
Academy of Sciences, San Francisco
Monday, April 27, 12-4:30 p.m.
Attendees who are not participating in the golf
outing can spend Monday afternoon on their own or join a bus tour to the
California Academy of Sciences, an innovative museum in San Francisco's
Golden Gate Park.
The
Academy reopened last fall after a $488 million renovation. The new
"living" roof conceals one of the world's largest planetariums, an
aquarium with a coral reef system, and a four-story glass dome over
rain-forest plants and animals. The 1.7 million plants on the roof serve
as the farmers market for two outstanding restaurants, created by two of
San Francisco's best known chefs.
Transportation is provided to and from the museum,
and food is available on your own at the museum.
