AAIS Affiliates Among Conning's Top Personal Lines Performers

Dec. 10, 2015 AAIS Advisory notice

Four insurers that use AAIS personal lines policy forms and manuals are among the 19 listed as personal lines "growth and profit leaders" in a report by Conning Inc.a leading investment adviser to P/C carriers.

The report, entitled "2015: Growth and Profit Leaders in Personal Lines Insurance - No Single Path to Success," identifies 19 companies that were in the top third of all personal lines carriers in their percentage premium growth and underwriting profitability during the period 2005-14.

Three of those companies use AAIS programs as the basis of their homeowners, mobile-homeowners, personal umbrella, and other personal lines products:

  • Loudoun Mutual Ins. Co., Waterford, Va.
  • North Star Mutual Ins. Co., Cottonwood, Minn.; and
  • Preferred Mutual Ins. Co., New Berlin, N.Y.

In addition, ACUITY of Sheboygan, Wis., is affiliated with AAIS for use of the Personal Inland Marine Program.

In a summary of the report, Conning notes that the 10-year period studied was a particularly volatile time, including periods of "higher-than-normal" underwriting profitability and record low interest rates that reduced investment income.

"During this period," conning writes, 19 companies were standouts, leading their peers in both growth and profitability."

AAIS congratulates all the companies selected, and takes pride in the achievements of its member companies among them.
