Maryland No Longer Requires Filing of Commercial Policy Termination Notices

Nov. 17, 2915 AAIS Advisory notices

A recent bulletin from the Maryland Insurance Administration announces that, effective immediately, property/casualty insurers no longer have to file notices alerting commercial insureds to the impending cancellation or non-renewal of a policy.

The bulletin emphasizes that it only eliminates the filing requirement, and that insurers are still required to provide commercial insureds with at least 10 days' notice of cancellation for non-payment of premium, and 45 days' notice of cancellation or non-renewal for any other reason.

AAIS Advisory notices are posted periodically to announce AAIS product developments, and to provide news items that are relevant to our program users. Advisory notices are news summaries that paraphrase documents which should be consulted directly for complete, authoritative information.
