A video interview with AAIS President and CEO Edmund J. Kelly is available on the website of WRIN.tv, a news and information source for the global risk and insurance industries. Ed was interviewed at the recent annual convention of the National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices (NAPSLO).
According to Ed's comments, the insurance industry continues to be a leader in IT spending per employee, and that the AAIS Underwriting Platform was developed to make it easier and less costly to implement AAIS programs and integrate them with existing policy administration systems.
In the interview, Ed addresses the regulatory debate over the use of "price optimization," acknowledging that "customer-sensitive pricing" is relatively new to insurers in the admitted market, but more familiar to those in surplus lines.
Ed cites unmanned aerial systems (aka "drones") as an important emerging exposure for the insurance industry and AAIS, which he says is particularly focused on the use of drones in agriculture.
