Tennessee DOI Issues Wildfire Disaster Directive

In response to Executive Order No. 61, the Tennessee Insurance Commissioner has issued Directive 16-01 requesting that cancellations or non-renewals of policies for the non-payment of premium be suspended for a period of at least 60 days from the date of the loss for those policyholders who have suffered property damage, injuries or loss of life as a result of the wildfires. The department also listed other efforts insurers should take to assist citizens as outlined in the attached Directive.View Directive 16-01

The Tennessee Insurance Commissioner has issued Directive 16-02 which expands the scope provided by recently issued Directive 16-01 to include those impacted by the November 29th severe weather in Southeast Tennessee:
